Hi, I am Teresa Hunt Lanni, a local artist, I grew up in Powdersville, SC. I moved to Colorado in 1999 where I lived for 12 years. While in Colorado I received a BA in Graphic Design at Platt College, and I had a successful art business. After moving back home it has been a little hard to reconnect and start my business back up. My style is very impressionistic, and I have experimented with all kinds of art mediums. I have done digital art, painted on glass and clothing, done murals, pencil, pastels and charcoal drawings as well as mixed media. My favorite medium until recently was acrylic on canvas. About 2 years ago I discovered watercolor, and I cannot get enough!!! I absolutely love watercolors!!! Please take a look at our Photo Gallery. My cousin, Tami, and I had each been individually praying for a “retirement” business, not really knowing where the Lord would lead us. We had a strong desire to spend more time with family. We started a once-a-month girl’s night out with our cousins and aunts that we were only see on major holidays. We decided on a painting party. It was a hit and the business bloomed from there. I am so thankful to be in business with my awesome “sister-cousin”. We each bring our own sets of talents to the business.
Hi, I am Tami Tucker Bishop, I grew up in Powdersville, SC. I received e a BS in Accounting from Clemson University and I have worked for a local school district for the past 25 years. Wow, I know right...what does that have to do with art. It might be obvious that I operate more on the business side of things. Although I also enjoy creativity and painting. Have you ever heard of left or right brained? Well, I am exactly center brained. Try being stuck right in the middle, it can feel like chaos, that is, if the right side of my brain is starved for creative ventures. My style of art is more detailed and realistic than Teresa's impressionistic art style. I enjoy painting animals on rocks when I can find just the right rock. These are very detailed and take hours to complete. Working full-time I haven't had time to paint to sell. But you can take a look at my work in the photo gallery. I enjoyed doing murals on my children's walls when they were little. I have also done a few for friends. I was also inspired to start this venture because of wanting to see our cousin group more than twice a year. While I enjoy painting, my favorite creative outlet is organization and home improvement and inspiring others to find ways to simplify their life to give more attention to what matters most in life. I am also very thankful to be in business with my awesome “sister-cousin” and for God answering our prayers about a "retirement" business.
The name THATS is an acronym for Tucker Hunt Art Traveling Studio.
Our maiden names are important to us but especially because we are double first cousins. We come from the same two families, the Tucker's and the Hunt's! If we had a dollar for every time we had to explain that we would be rich! So, you know that a first cousin is when your parents and your cousins’ parents are siblings. Well, if two sets of siblings marry another set of siblings their kids are double first cousins (first cousins on BOTH sides). Tami’s mother and Teresa’s dad are brother and sister, but Tami’s dad and Teresa’s mother are also brother and sister. If that doesn't make sense to you, don't worry, just know it is nothing at all to be alarmed about! LOL We are as genetically close to being sisters as two people can be without being actual sisters. As you can tell we love and adore both sides of these two families and want to represent them both well!
We say, we were from Powdersville, before Powdersville was cool! We certainly didn't have our own school and now we have three. We didn't even have a grocery store and when you told anyone we were from Powdersville we got..."What is POW-DERS-VILLE"? Boy those days are sure gone!
Favorite memory only Powdersvillian's will understand: would be riding the lawn mower down Three Bridges Road to get to the Jolly Trolly!
